Respect & Kindness
ProxUs is about real people having real conversations. Treat every person on the platform the way you'd want to be treated when meeting someone in your neighborhood — with basic decency and respect.
- Engage in good-faith conversations, even when you disagree
- Welcome people who are new to your area or the app
- Be constructive when giving feedback or criticism
- Respect personal boundaries if someone asks you to stop
- Insulting, demeaning, or belittling other users
- Personal attacks based on appearance, beliefs, or identity
- Deliberately provoking or antagonizing other users
- Continuing contact after being told to stop
No Harassment or Bullying
Harassment of any kind is not tolerated on ProxUs. This applies to public posts, comments, and direct messages. Targeting an individual or coordinating with others to harass someone is grounds for immediate removal.
The following are considered harassment and will be acted upon:
- Sending repeated unwanted messages after being ignored or blocked
- Threatening a user's physical safety, reputation, or livelihood
- Doxxing — sharing someone's private information (address, workplace, phone number) without their consent
- Encouraging others to harass or target a specific user
- Making sexual comments or advances toward someone who has not welcomed them
- Stalking or tracking someone's location through app features in a manner that causes distress
If you feel unsafe, use the in-app report tool immediately. In an emergency, contact local law enforcement. ProxUs will cooperate with lawful requests from authorities investigating threats or harassment.
Content Standards
ProxUs supports text and photo sharing. All content must be appropriate for an 18+ adult platform while still respecting the broader community. Not everything that is legal is welcome here.
- Photos and text about local events, places, and experiences
- Authentic personal content that reflects your life and interests
- Creative expression, art, and community discussion
- Honest reviews and recommendations of local spots
- Nudity or sexually explicit imagery
- Graphic violence, gore, or self-harm content
- Content that promotes, glorifies, or trivializes violence
- Spam, repetitive posts, or unsolicited promotions
- Misinformation designed to deceive or manipulate others
Child Safety — Zero Tolerance
ProxUs has an absolute zero-tolerance policy for any content that exploits or endangers minors. This is our most serious rule and the consequences are immediate and permanent.
- Child sexual abuse material (CSAM) is immediately removed, and all accounts involved are permanently banned
- All detected CSAM is reported to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) and relevant law enforcement — no exceptions
- Content that sexualizes minors in any form, including drawings, written content, or photography, is strictly prohibited
- Attempting to solicit minors for any purpose is grounds for immediate permanent ban and law enforcement reporting
Automated CSAM detection runs on all uploaded content. ProxUs cooperates fully with law enforcement in all investigations involving child safety. There is no appeals process for CSAM-related bans.
Hate Speech & Discrimination
ProxUs is for everyone. Content or behavior that dehumanizes people or incites hatred based on protected characteristics is not welcome.
Hate speech includes, but is not limited to, content that:
- Attacks individuals or groups based on race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, gender, sexual orientation, disability, or age
- Uses slurs or derogatory language to demean a person or group
- Promotes or glorifies hate groups, extremist ideologies, or acts of mass violence
- Calls for discrimination against individuals or groups
Spirited debate, satire, and criticism of ideas — including political, religious, or social positions — are generally permitted, provided they do not cross into dehumanization.
Spam, Scams & Fake Accounts
ProxUs is built on authentic local connections. Fake accounts, automated behavior, and deceptive practices undermine the trust that makes that possible.
- Sharing local businesses or events you genuinely support
- One account per person
- Honest representation of who you are
- Creating fake, bot, or impersonation accounts
- Sending unsolicited commercial messages or promotions
- Phishing, scamming, or deceptive solicitation
- Creating multiple accounts to evade a ban
- Using automation tools or bots to interact with the app
Privacy & Personal Information
Respect for privacy is a core value at ProxUs. We collect no user data ourselves — and we expect our community to extend that same respect to one another.
- Do not share another person's private information — including address, phone number, workplace, or personal photos — without their explicit consent
- Do not screenshot or republish private conversations without the other person's consent
- Do not use proximity features to track, follow, or surveil someone who has not consented
- Respect when someone has chosen not to share their location or personal details
ProxUs does not collect, store, or sell any user data. Your privacy is protected at the platform level — and we ask you to protect the privacy of others in your community.
Enforcement & Reporting
We rely on a combination of automated tools and user reports to keep ProxUs safe. When a violation is reported, we review it and take appropriate action. The severity of the response depends on the nature and history of the violation.
ProxUs reserves the right to act on violations without prior notice, including removing content, restricting accounts, or reporting conduct to law enforcement.
How to Report
Use the in-app report button on any post, photo, or profile to flag content that violates these guidelines. You can also report accounts for spam or harassment directly from their profile. All reports are reviewed by our team.
